Parchment works in many air fryers only when the manufacturer permits it and food keeps it securely in place. An empty sheet during preheating can be blown upward toward the heater.
Do not blanket the entire basket
Air fryers cook by moving hot air. Covering all openings changes that airflow and can reduce cooking performance. Size the paper to the food rather than sealing the basket floor.
Add parchment with the food
Do not preheat with a lightweight sheet sitting by itself. Put the parchment in when you add enough food to hold it down.
Keep edges away from the heater
Avoid tall corners or curled paper that can lift. Parchment is heat resistant only within its rated temperature and can scorch if it touches a heating element.
Check the paper’s temperature rating
Stay below the limit printed by the paper manufacturer, and do not confuse parchment with wax paper.
Basket design varies. If your air-fryer manual prohibits paper or calls for a specific perforated liner, follow that model-specific instruction.
