LED lights use light-emitting diode (LED) technology and can flicker because of a loose bulb, incompatible dimmer, failing driver, or power variation. Flicker in one lamp is often local; several rooms changing brightness together deserve more attention.
See whether the flicker is limited to one light
With power off and the bulb cool, make sure it is seated correctly. Trying a compatible known-good bulb helps separate a lamp failure from a fixture problem.
Dimmers need LED compatibility
A dimmer designed for incandescent lamps can cause flicker, poor dimming, or incomplete shutoff with LEDs. Confirm that both dimmer and bulb are specified as compatible and within the allowed load range.
Flicker when appliances start can reveal voltage drop
A slight change when a large load starts can occur, but strong or repeated dimming deserves circuit evaluation. Do not open the panel or probe energized bus bars to investigate.
Several rooms or heat signs require an electrician
If multiple circuits flicker, there is buzzing, odor, heat, or the problem is worsening, stop using affected devices and arrange inspection. A loose upstream connection can generate heat even while lights still operate.
