Turn the television off, unplug it if you will use any moisture, and let the panel cool. Never spray cleaner directly onto the screen.
Start dry
Use a clean soft microfiber cloth with no gritty particles trapped in it. Wipe with minimal pressure; several gentle passes are safer than pressing hard on a fingerprint.
If a mark remains, check the manual
Many manufacturers permit a cloth lightly dampened with distilled water or a specified screen solution. The cloth should be barely damp, never dripping.
Skip household glass cleaner unless specifically approved
Ammonia, alcohol, and other solvents can affect antireflective layers or surface finishes. Paper towels, abrasive pads, and scouring powders can also scratch.
Keep liquid away from the bezel and openings
Moisture can wick into the frame and electronics. If a drop runs toward an edge, dry it immediately and leave the set powered off.
Use a separate cloth for the frame and stand
The bezel may tolerate different cleaning than the display panel, but applying product to the cloth rather than the television is still the safer habit. Let everything dry before reconnecting power.
Screen cleaning rarely needs aggressive degreasing chemistry. Dust first, use very light pressure, and add only the moisture the manufacturer allows.
