Streak-free exterior window cleaning depends more on removing grit first, using modest solution, and drying evenly than on applying lots of product. Safe access comes first: high windows or uneven ground are not a reason to work from an unstable ladder.
Remove dust and grit before rubbing
Rinse or gently brush frames and glass to remove particles that could scratch. Clean heavily soiled frames first so mud is not dragged over freshly washed glass.
Use water and a small amount of cleaner
Too much soap leaves film and increases streaking. A mild solution compatible with the glass and frame is usually enough; avoid abrasive products on coatings or films.
Work with a scrubber and squeegee
Wet the glass, loosen soil, and remove water with overlapping squeegee passes, wiping the blade between strokes. Finish edges with microfiber to catch remaining drops without spreading cleaner back over the pane.
Use an extension pole or professional for unsafe heights
A suitable extension pole can reach many upper windows from the ground. Do not lean from roofs or use a ladder on wet surfaces; fall risk outweighs a cosmetic cleaning benefit.
