Use production and inspection as triggers
Compare energy production with similar days and first account for new shade, inverter faults, or weather changes. When visible soiling coincides with a persistent unexplained output drop, cleaning becomes more justified.
Dry, dusty locations may need more frequent checks
Near dirt roads, agriculture, or during long rainless periods, dust can build faster. Even then, check actual effect before setting a rigid schedule and follow manufacturer warranty guidance.
Birds and trees create localized soiling
Bird droppings, sap, and leaves may deserve attention sooner than a uniform dust film. Keep nearby gutters and drainage clear from a safe access point so debris does not collect around the array.
Access risk can make professional cleaning the right choice
Even when cleaning is justified, it is not worth a roof fall. If the array cannot be cleaned from the ground or a safe platform, use a professional with fall protection and experience around electrical equipment.
