Start with pets using veterinary guidance
Use only products appropriate for the animal's species, age, and weight. Some dog flea products are dangerous to cats, so do not improvise or combine treatments.
Vacuum resting areas frequently
Vacuum carpets, edges, under furniture, and upholstery where pets rest. Empty the canister or discard the bag outside the living area as appropriate for the machine.
Wash compatible textiles appropriately
Wash pet bedding, blankets, and removable covers according to their labels and dry them thoroughly. Focus on places where eggs and larvae are concentrated.
Expect gradual decline, not instant disappearance
Adults may continue emerging for a while even when the plan is working. If activity does not decline, the infestation is extensive, or there is no pet source, a pest professional can adjust environmental control.
