Kitchen grease comes off best in thin layers with a mild cleaner and limited moisture. Protecting the cabinet finish matters more than using the strongest degreaser.

Start with a hidden spot test

Mix warm water with a few drops of dish soap, dampen a cloth, and test a hidden corner. Stop if the finish turns dull, tacky, or transfers color.

Work top to bottom in small areas

Loosen the film with the damp cloth and dry immediately. For old grease, several gentle passes are safer than soaking the surface or scrubbing with abrasives.

Protect edges and seams

Laminate boards and wood can swell if liquid reaches seams, hinges, or raw edges. Apply cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the cabinet directly.

Use strong solvents only on compatible finishes

Alcohol, concentrated degreasers, and alkaline products can attack paint, varnish, or laminate. Follow manufacturer care guidance if mild detergent is not enough.
