Why Isn’t My Smart Speaker Responding?

A smart speaker that does not respond may lack power, internet access, have its microphone muted, be stuck during an update, or fail to recognize the wake word. Before factory-resetting it, check lights, the microphone button, app status, and network. A simple restart preserves settings and solves more issues than immediately erasing everything.

Check power, status lights, and microphone state

Make sure the adapter is connected firmly and the outlet works with another safe device. Look for a muted-microphone indicator; many speakers show a specific light when listening is disabled.

Check the app to see whether the device is online

If it appears offline, see whether other devices have internet and whether the router name or password changed. Temporarily move the speaker closer to the router to separate weak signal from an account or configuration problem.

Restart before factory-resetting

Disconnect power for the interval specified by the manufacturer and reconnect it. Wait for startup to finish before testing. A factory reset erases pairing, preferences, and automations, so reserve it for when normal steps fail.

Separate a voice-recognition problem from a speaker fault

If it plays music from the app but does not respond to voice, review microphone status, wake word, language, and ambient noise. If it produces no sound, does not power on, or reboots by itself, power or hardware may be the issue and manufacturer support is appropriate.
