Why Won’t My Video Doorbell Connect to Wi-Fi?

A video doorbell can lose Wi-Fi because of unstable power, weak signal at the door, band or router incompatibility, or a temporary app or firmware problem. First separate power from connectivity, then evaluate the network where the device is actually installed.

A video doorbell can lose Wi-Fi because of unstable power, weak signal at the door, band or router incompatibility, or a temporary app or firmware problem. First separate power from connectivity, then evaluate the network where the device is actually installed.

Confirm stable power before troubleshooting Wi-Fi

If the display, light, or chime repeatedly restarts, the issue may be battery, transformer, or power related rather than Wi-Fi. Charge it or inspect only manufacturer-approved accessible connections; do not work on energized wiring.

Check signal at the door, not just beside the router

Test another device at the same location and see whether connectivity worsens with the door closed. Exterior walls, metal, and distance can weaken the signal even when the rest of the home has good coverage.

Check compatible bands, network name, and security

Some doorbells support only certain bands or security modes. Check the manual before splitting networks or changing router settings; a configuration that works for modern phones may still be incompatible with the doorbell.

Use a controlled restart before a factory reset

Restart the doorbell, app, and router using the documented procedure and check for updates. A factory reset erases configuration and should be a last step after power and signal have been confirmed.
