A robot vacuum that will not charge may not be making good contact with the dock, may have dirty terminals, a powerless adapter, or a worn battery. Start with the dock, contacts, and alignment; opening the battery pack or charging base is not part of safe household troubleshooting.
Confirm the dock has power
Check that the adapter is firmly connected and test the outlet with a simple known-good device. Avoid switched power strips that can be turned off without being noticed.
Clean charging contacts with power off
Dust and film on metal pads can prevent charging. Turn the robot off, unplug the dock, and clean the contacts as the manufacturer directs without letting liquid enter electronics.
Reposition the dock and remove obstacles
A crooked dock, unstable carpet placement, or cramped location can prevent docking. Place it flat against a wall with the clearance specified so the robot can align properly.
A battery that will not hold charge may be worn out
If the robot recognizes the dock and indicates charging but dies quickly, the battery may be degraded. Use only compatible batteries and manufacturer procedures; swollen, hot, or damaged packs should not continue charging.
